The Problem:
In the past decade, the Newport, Ky had become a hub of entrepreneurial spirit with a strong connection to its past. In order to attract more attention, The City of Newport needed a face-lift. After interviewing residents, meeting with local businesses, and artists-an idea formed. The mark should be a unit, but also show diversity, much like the city itself.
The Solution:
Inspired by the rich history of Newport, a pattern emerged. The mark referenced cobblestone streets, brick historical buildings, and the contrasting neighborhoods that give Newport its own unique flair. Paired with a classic serif typeface, the pattern extends across all the marketing pieces and defines the brand as a whole.
